Str8shift Labs · Our Own Product
Strip the spin.
See it str8.
Say it straighten. Str8n takes the world's news, strips the spin, and hands you the str8 of it — what happened, who's spinning it, why they'd spin it that way, and what could come next.
The Method
Four questions. One straight answer.
News never arrives neutral. Every headline is already a decision about what to emphasize and what to bury. Str8n runs every event through the same four-part file — a dossier — so you always know exactly what you're looking at and who shaped it.
The Str8
What happened
The event with the loaded language stripped out. No adjectives doing the work of facts — just the thing that actually occurred, in plain words.
The bias x-ray
Who's spinning it
Every major outlet's angle, lined up side by side and tagged by lean — left, right, state, indie. You see the spread before you read a word of it.
The motive
Why they'd spin it that way
The incentive behind the angle, with the receipt: the exact loaded phrase they reached for, or the detail they left on the floor.
The scenarios
What could come next
Forecasts, not predictions — each one tied to a real historical precedent you can look up, and tagged likely, possible, or tail-risk.
Every event also carries two scores: magnitude, how much it actually moves the world, and a spin score, how hard the media field is working it. The loudest story and the most important story are rarely the same one. Str8n shows you both.
What's Inside
An intelligence terminal that fits in your pocket.
A globe you can dive into
A hand-built world map — no map SDK, no clutter. Spin it, then dive: zoom past the surface and watch the region's stories pin themselves where they happened.
The daily brief
The day's events ranked by magnitude — how much each one actually moves the world — so the signal sits at the top and the noise sinks.
The dossier
Tap any event for the full file: the str8, the spin breakdown, the motive on every outlet, the scenarios, and the sources behind all of it.
Shareable str8 cards
Pull the str8 of any story into a clean, post-ready card. The receipts, not the rage-bait — built to drop straight into a feed.
The Bigger Play
The app is the showcase. The data is the business.
Underneath the consumer app, every dossier is structured, queryable intelligence — de-spun world events as clean data instead of a wall of articles. That's built for the people whose job is to read the world before everyone else: analysts, desks, and the AI systems that increasingly do the first pass.
Str8n is the spearhead of Str8shift's shift from building websites to building products. We're starting with the thing we wished existed, and opening the pipeline underneath it to the teams who need the str8 at scale.
Phase 1
Where it stands
The full front end is live and interactive — the globe, the brief, the dossiers, the share cards. The real news pipeline is what we're building next.
Seed data
Honest by default
Every event in the app today is hand-built and badged "seed data" in the UI. We don't put invented quotes in real newsrooms' mouths. When the pipeline lands, the badge comes off.
Expo · RN
How it's built
React Native and Expo, TypeScript, one codebase shipping to both iOS and Android. Dark, fast, no filler — an intelligence terminal, not a news feed.
