Str8shift Softwares is a veteran-owned software and security firm based in Killeen, Texas. The firm builds custom software, performs authorized penetration tests, and develops search-ready websites for businesses across the United States. We build custom software and web platforms, test them the way an attacker would, and keep them running. Software development, penetration testing, and web development are the core services; AI integration and search optimization support them.
Was Str8shift Softwares previously Str8shift Digital?
Yes. The firm operated as Str8shift Digital until September 2026. The legal entity, Straight Shift Digital LLC, the domain, and the contact email are unchanged. The trade name changed to reflect the primary work: software development and penetration testing.
Is Str8shift Softwares the same company as Shift Digital?
No. Str8shift Softwares is operated by Straight Shift Digital LLC in Killeen, Texas. It is not affiliated with Shift Digital, the automotive marketing company at shiftdigital.com.
What does custom software development cost?
Every build is scoped and quoted in writing before work starts. A focused internal tool or dashboard is a different project from a customer portal with integrations, so there is no flat rate. You get a fixed price and a timeline, and changes to scope are quoted rather than absorbed into surprises.
How much does a website cost?
Web development starts at $500 for a single landing page and $1,000 for a full multi-page site. E-commerce stores start at $2,000. All projects are deposit-based: half to start, half at launch. No hidden fees, and no scope changes without your approval. See exact pricing on our Pay page.
How long does it take to build a website?
A landing page typically takes 1–2 weeks. A full site runs 2–4 weeks. E-commerce stores are usually 4–6 weeks depending on how many products you have. The clock starts once we have the basics from you: your business info, any existing branding, and an idea of what you want. We walk you through the rest.
What does a penetration test cost?
A focused penetration test of your site or app starts as low as $899, scoped to the target. Enterprise engagements run into the tens of thousands; most organizations do not need that. We scope it with you in writing first so you know the number before you commit. There is a $449 booking deposit on the Pay page.
Is your penetration test an official SOC 2, ISO, or HIPAA compliance audit?
No, and we will be straight about that. Our penetration test is a hands-on technical assessment and readiness review, mapped to recognized frameworks like the CIS Controls and NIST CSF. An official SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA attestation has to be signed off by a licensed auditor for that framework. What we do is find and fix the real holes and get you ready for one of those formal audits, or for cyber insurance. More on penetration testing.
What do you need from us before a penetration test starts?
Written authorization for every asset in scope, a signed rules-of-engagement agreement covering targets, testing windows, methods, exclusions, and emergency contacts, and a technical contact who can answer questions during the test. We test only what you own or are authorized to have tested, and only what you approve.
Do you fix the problems the test finds, or just report them?
Both. You get a prioritized roadmap of every finding, worst risk first. We can hand it to your engineers, fix it ourselves, or roll ongoing protection into a Care Plan. After fixes land, we re-run the affected checks and update the report so you can show the holes are closed.
Do I own the software and the code when the project is done?
Yes. Software ships with documentation and full ownership: source code, design files, domain, and hosting accounts in your name. Nothing is locked behind a subscription to us.
Do you work with small businesses and startups?
Yes. The small-business work is built for independent bakeries, barbershops, salons, restaurants, retailers, service businesses, and community groups. A first project can be a complete website or one focused improvement to booking, ordering, menus, inquiries, hours, contact details, or form routing.
Do I need a full website rebuild?
No. We follow the customer path first. If one booking link, order flow, menu, form, or mobile page is the problem, we can scope that issue by itself. We recommend a full rebuild only when the rest of the site also blocks customers, search access, editing, or reliable handoff.
Can you work with the booking or ordering system I already use?
Usually. We can keep an existing Booksy, Square, Shopify, Stripe, or other approved system and build a clearer path into it. The written scope identifies what stays, what changes, and which account or integration access is required before work starts.
What makes Str8shift Softwares different from other agencies?

Where are you located? Do you work with clients outside Killeen, TX?
The firm is based in Killeen, Texas, next to Fort Cavazos, and serves clients across the United States. Most of the process is remote: email, video calls, and shared documents, or whatever works best for you.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Every project is split 50/50: deposit to start, balance on delivery. For our monthly retainer plans (Care and Growth), you are billed month to month with no contract required. Cancel any time by emailing us.
Can you help redesign my existing website?
Yes. If your current site is outdated, slow, or not doing what you need it to, we can rebuild it or rework specific parts. Tell us what you have and what you want it to do instead, and we will scope the right approach from there.
Do you build e-commerce stores?
Yes. We build online stores with Stripe for payments and Printful for print-on-demand merch. We can also work with Shopify if you already have an account there. E-commerce stores start at $2,000 and include product pages, cart, checkout, order tracking, and everything your customers need.
What do I need to have ready before we start?
Not much to get going. We ask for basic business info, any existing logos or brand files you have, and a general idea of what you are trying to do. Content (photos, written copy) is helpful but not required upfront. We can work on that together as we go.
Do you offer ongoing support after the site is built?
Yes. Our Care Plan ($99/mo) covers hosting management, monthly updates, security monitoring, and bug fixes so your site stays running without you having to think about it. Our Growth Plan ($299/mo) adds four social media posts per week, ad creative, and a monthly performance report.
Do you work with nonprofits or community organizations?
